How variable coastal soils, settlement, groundwater and construction loads affect road embankments—and what investigation and monitoring can reveal.

How groundwater pressure, flow paths and chemistry affect tunnel construction and long-term performance, and what investigation and monitoring can reveal.

How to select, validate, and maintain sensors for roads, railways, bridges, and tunnels—and turn readings into traceable maintenance decisions.

Plan seismic rehabilitation around route availability: assess ground and structural failure modes, dependencies, repairability and evidence needed to reopen.

How to match bridge NDT methods to suspected defects, interpret deck and steel findings, and verify uncertain indications before defining repairs.

Assess road hazards through failure paths, drainage, ground behavior and service consequences, then make inspection and recovery part of the design.

How to assess durability in rails, fastenings, sleepers and ballast by examining exposure, failure mechanisms, test evidence and service records.

How tunnel construction affects groundwater, spoil handling, noise, ecology and energy use—and how baseline data and monitoring inform site decisions.

How to define, test and use forecasts from infrastructure monitoring data without mistaking sensor anomalies for asset deterioration.

How to interpret ground vibration readings near tracks, bridges, tunnels and roads—and pair sensor data with inspections and movement surveys.
